DSL - Ethernet Setup
Before setting up your computer, follow the links below to setup your DSL Modem.
NOTE: The default settings in Windows XP are correct. This guide is to set your Network Settings back to default.
If you are using Classic View, click

1. Click Start, then click Control Panel
If you are using Classic View, click
here.
2. Click on "Network and Internet Connections" (Category View)

2.5 Click on "Network Connections"

3. Double Click on "Local Area Connection" (Ethernet)
4. Click on the "Properties" button.

5. Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" - DO NOT uncheck the box
6. Click the "Properties" button

7. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
8. Select " Obtain DNS server address automatically"
9. Click "OK"

10. Click "OK" on the Local Area Connection Properties window
11. On the Local Area Connection Status window, the Status should read "Connected"
If you status is Disconnected, be sure that the DSL Modem is plugged in and turned on.
Try Disabling the connection and re-enabling it. Make sure that the Ethernet cable is plugged into the correct jack on the back of the computer and on the DSL modem.
FINISHED
You should now be able to browse the internet. If you are still unable to browse, try re-starting the computer.
